In our quest to reduce our reliance on using non-renewable materials in asphalt mixes, we have been working with ASQ in finding a source to replace natural sand in our asphalt mixes with recycled crushed glass (RCG). The current Victorian Department of Transport (VDoT) allows up to 10% of RCG to be used in base course asphalt mixes. We are currently using approx. 500t of RCG to our mixes every month. This equates to approx. 3 million glass beer bottle per month.
