About Us
Centre State Asphalting is the asphalt manufacturing and contractor of choice in northern and western country Victoria.
We are a leader in country Victoria in providing innovative and sustainable products, such as RAP, glass, crumb rubber and plastic recycling into asphalt products. We play an important role in closing the loop on waste streams generated from local country Victorian communities.
At Centre State, we pride ourselves on creating innovative and sustainable products that lower our carbon footprint without sacrificing our high-quality standard. We do this by investing in new equipment, developing new products, including a large fleet of insulated moving floor delivery vehicles, and high-quality work.
We focus on developing strong relationships with customers based on professionalism, trust and knowledge of asphalt applications under local conditions in country Victoria.
2003
Our Birth
With humble beginnings, Barry Trait started Centre State Asphalting in 2003.
2014
Acquired by VSA Group
Realising a customer and market base overlap, VSA purchased Centre State to create marketing synergies across the local government and civil customer base that require both asphalt and spray sealing services.
Improved Asphalt Production
To reduce the manufacturing cost and improve the carbon footprint of asphalt production, we introduced additional shedding over the mineral aggregate cold storage and additive bins.
2015
Upgrade of Asphalt Plant
Growing in our capacity to provide a full range of specialised asphalt manufacturing, we installed a new fibre system and RAP-capable asphalt mixing drum, fitted with a quieter and more efficient burner.
RAP Recycling Facility
Thanks to the assistance of a state government sustainability grant, we construction of a new RAP Recycling Facility.
2018
Upgrade to Bitumen Storage Tanks
In 2018, we replaced aging bitumen storage tanks with new large capacity and highly efficient Benninghoven tanks.

250 Tonne Plant
Recycled Glass Additive System
Growing our ability to be sustainable in asphalt manufacture and production, we commissioned a new recycled glass additive system.
